I had this type of software before and all it does is combines all the feeds of some live events and mostly looping feeds of news, shows, etc. into a catagorized menu to choose from. Not worth it you can find most of these feeds yourself for free. Go to http://www.OvGuide.com for movies and such. The software is a waste of money.

Depending on your Laptop you probably have some video out options either an additional monitor out or an S-video out. If it is really new you may have a HDMI. Now you have to consider your TV does it have any of those as Inputs? Once you discover the matching format it is as simple as buying the cable and hooking it up then using rightclick on your desktop, going into Display Settings and adding an additional monitor. Most laptops with HDMI or S-video will do something like this automatically. Usually you can either Extend your desktop (ie make it larger off of your monitor to the right and that area will be on your TV) or Clone your desktop. The choice is yours.
The other option is to use a third party hardware like a Ps3 or Xbox 360 and use programs like Tversity to stream video off of your laptop, through your network and onto the TV.
